Guide 06 — Online Ordering (Customer)

Overview

Customers can place orders directly from their phone or browser — no app download required. This guide explains the customer experience from browsing to order confirmation.


How to Access the Online Menu

The business will provide you with a link or QR code. It looks like:

https://app.smecentral.au/{business-name}/order/

Or for a specific branch:

https://app.smecentral.au/{business-name}/order/{location-id}/

Scan the QR code on your table or counter, or type the link into your phone's browser.


Step-by-Step: Placing an Order

Step 1 — Choose a Location (if multiple branches)

  • If the business has more than one branch, you will see a location selector
  • Tap the branch you are ordering from

Step 2 — Browse the Menu

  • Products are grouped by category (e.g. Mains, Drinks, Desserts)
  • Use the search bar to find a specific item quickly
  • Each product shows its name, description, and price

Step 3 — Add Items to Your Cart

  • Tap a product to add it to your cart
  • Tap again to add more of the same item
  • Your cart total appears at the bottom of the screen

Step 4 — View Your Cart

  • Tap "View Cart" to review your order
  • You will see:
  • All items and quantities
  • Subtotal
  • GST (10%)
  • Total amount

Step 5 — Enter Your Details

Field Required? Notes
Name Yes Your name for the order
Phone Yes So the business can contact you if needed
Email No Optional — for order confirmation email

Step 6 — Choose Order Type

  • Pickup — you will collect at the counter when ready
  • Dine-in — enter your table number

Step 7 — Add Notes (Optional)

  • Enter any special requests (e.g. "No nuts", "Extra napkins", "Well done please")

Step 8 — Place Order

  • Tap "Place Order"
  • You will see an Order Confirmation screen with your order number
  • If you provided a phone number, a WhatsApp confirmation may be sent to you

After placing your order you will see:

  • "Order Received!"
  • Your Order # (keep this for reference)
  • Order type (Pickup or Dine-in)
  • Table number (if dine-in)
  • Full list of items ordered
  • Total amount
  • GST breakdown

Tips for Customers

  • The menu is live — if an item is greyed out or not visible, it may be sold out or unavailable today
  • You do not need to create an account to place an order
  • If you need to change your order after submitting, contact the business directly using the phone number provided
