Guide 02 — Attendance & Payslip

Overview

SMECentral tracks attendance in real time. Payroll is calculated daily — you can view an up-to-date payslip at any point during the month, not just at month-end.


Part A — Clock In & Clock Out (Staff)

Method 1 — Kiosk (Face Recognition)

  1. Go to the kiosk device (tablet or screen set up at your workplace)
  2. The kiosk shows the Check In screen with a live camera
  3. Stand in front of the camera — the system will automatically recognise your face
  4. A confirmation message appears: "Clocked In — [Your Name] — [Time]"
  5. To clock out, return to the kiosk and look at the camera again — the system detects whether you are clocking in or out based on your current status

Method 2 — Manager Manual Entry

If a staff member forgets to clock in/out, a Manager or Owner can manually record attendance:

  1. Go to HR → Attendance
  2. Click "Add Attendance" or "Edit" on the relevant record
  3. Enter the employee name, date, clock-in time, and clock-out time
  4. Click Save

Part B — Check Attendance in Real Time (Manager/Owner)

  1. Go to HR → Attendance
  2. The attendance list shows all employees with their clock-in and clock-out times for today
  3. Use the date filter to view attendance for any previous day
  4. Use the employee filter to view a specific person's history

What you can see:

Column Description
Employee Staff name
Date Work date
Clock In Time they arrived
Clock Out Time they left (blank if still on shift)
Hours Worked Auto-calculated
Location Which branch they worked at

Part C — View Payslip (Real-Time, Any Day)

SMECentral calculates pay continuously. You do not need to wait until month-end.

For a Manager/Owner — View Any Employee's Payslip

  1. Go to HR → Payroll
  2. Select the employee from the list
  3. Select the pay period — you can choose:
  4. A full month (e.g. March 2026)
  5. A custom date range (e.g. 1 Mar to 15 Mar)
  6. Today to see earnings up to right now
  7. The payslip shows:

Regular Hours Ordinary hours worked × base rate
Overtime Hours above threshold × overtime rate
Public Holiday Public holiday hours × penalty rate
Weekend Penalty Saturday/Sunday rates if applicable
Gross Pay Total before tax
Tax Withheld Estimated PAYG withholding
Superannuation 11% super guarantee
Net Pay Amount employee receives
  1. Click "Download PDF" to generate a formal payslip document

For Staff — View Your Own Payslip

  1. Log in to https://app.smecentral.au
  2. Go to HR → Payroll
  3. Your own payslip is shown (staff can only see their own data)

Real-time note: Every approved attendance record immediately updates the payslip. If an employee worked this morning and you check at noon, those hours are already included.


Part D — Shift Planning

To schedule upcoming shifts:

  1. Go to HR → Shift Planning
  2. Click "Add Shift"
  3. Select employee, date, start time, end time, and location
  4. Click Save

Shifts appear on the employee's schedule and are used to cross-check actual attendance.
